Eva & Manu – Feet In The Water

If you are following this blog, you’ll recall that I posted a track from Eva & Manu back on January 23, 2012.  This folk-pop duo has been traveling around Europe, working for their room and board, and playing and writing music about their experiences and feelings as they go.  It’s a tremendous effort, by two very talented people.  Check out their Travel In Music blog, to learn more.   Posting this track now, is an effort by yours truly,…

Tenpenny Joke – She

https://youtu.be/LMRfPlLsPrY Several years old now, this rocker is still a “sound” favorite of mine.  Straight forward rock and roll in the style that embeds itself in you and has you singing the chorus.  Tenpenny Joke  rocks in a very accessible way.  She literally does “get inside your head,” as the lyric says. There’s plenty to love here, from the otherworldly intro, to the violin and guitar trailing lick, to the masterful guitar and vocal work in the middle.  You can download Tenpenny Joke’s full length Ambush on All Sides here for free but consider donating something to the band. Cheyenne Marie Mize – Friend

Steeped in a bowl full of mournful, is the haunting yet beautiful 2010 release of Friend, by singer-songwriter Cheyenne Marie Mize.  Instrumentation is spare and otherworldly.  The banjo pluck, adds an additional layer of creepiness to an already eerie song.  Thanks to blogger WashedInReverb for getting me started on Marie. You can find more information on Cheyenne Marie Mize by visiting her MySpace, BandCamp or FaceBook pages. Give her a listen! (Source: https://www.youtube.com/)

Blind Pilot – Go On Say It

Enter the jingle-jangle of folk-pop from the Portland, Oregon, six piece known as Blind Pilot.  Fronted by guitarist, vocalist Israel Nebeker and drummer Ryan Dobrowski (once a two-piece), the band weaves stories and melodies together with flawless perfection.  Go on Say It highlights both the depth of the band and the imagery.  Blind Pilot can be found on their own web site as well as MySpace. Check them out! (Source: https://www.youtube.com/)
