Roy Dahan – State Of Mind

There is something very infectious about the middle-eastern style of Israeli singer-songwriter Roy Dahan’s folk-pop. It’s as if he has taken his homeland and transformed it into American popular culture while retaining the spiritual essence of the former. That is very evident on State Of Mind from his May 2011 long-player, Some Of This Life.  The rhythms are unique, the inclusion of the cello such a beautiful touch and Roy Dahan has a magnificent voice too. You can find a little information on Roy Dahan…

The Breedings – Turn

Steeped in Country, The Breedings, made up of singer/songwriter Willie Breeding and big sister and singer Erin Breeding, make beautiful stories and melodies. That said, their 2011 full-length debut, Laughing At Luck, had more than it’s share of rock edginess too. Suffice it to say that The Breedings are not locked in any one genre and have enough talent to pull off different styles like chameleons. Here on 2010’s Turn, the two stay more to the Country formula, but without the twang so often…

What happens when you buy a pair of sunglasses that tells you the baggage that others are carrying around with them?  Live your life and don’t let others dictate how you will live it. That’s the underpinnings of the video for Lachi and Meridian Gold’s 2011 single, Bug Out, also available on the September 2012 long-player, Make Some Noise. Lachi’s music is decidedly positive and you feel that in your bones, in your soul, while listening. You can find more information on Lachi by visiting her web site, complete with social, media and store links. Check out Lachi, and let your…

To purchase the EP, visit the band’s bandcamp.com site. Check out this great…

I’ve only one complaint about Rebecca Shearing’s new EP, Paper Lung (October 2012), and that is the mix.  Rebecca’s voice is obviously powerful and full, but as demonstrated by the title track here, it is beneath the instruments in the mix. Rebecca Shearing has first-rate pop vocal chops, and though Paper Lung (the song) breaks not so much as a thimble of new ground musically, it does show the talent and ability of this young singer and highlights the promise of things to come. You can check out Rebecca Shearing by visiting her web site, which includes most social links, or…
