The Eden House – Bad Men

For those of you who follow this blog, you will know already that generally music highlighted here is in the folk/pop vein, with a smattering of soul and funk and just a touch of rock. Well make this one of those “touches.” Rock can be captivating, intriguing and full of mystery and that is just what Bad Men (OnTheirWayToDoBadThings) from the collaborative progressive rock project The Eden House is. Bad Men is from the March 2013 single available on bandcamp.com. Bad Men sports driving…

Drew Holcomb And The Neighbors – Good Light

Folkish country-pop troupe Drew Holcomb And The Neighbors have it. What is “it” you ask? The ability to weave a perfectly singable and infectious tune. This is the kind of music you might find on a country radio station that just doesn’t quite fit a genre’. Frankly, that’s a good thing. Here Good Light, the title track to their new long-player (February 2013), is a testament to how we live our lives. “There’s a good light shining in you. There’s…

Petals of Spain – Lady Luck

Petals Of Spain combine their earlier singles with a couple of new tracks into a smart new EP, Soul Canon (February 2013), which while too short (6 tracks and 21 minutes give or take), is full of substance. Katzenjammer – Rock Paper Scissors

Katzenjammer is one of my favorite Norwegian pop groups. I covered the band’s first long-player, Le Pop, on another blog back in September 2009. You can find out a good  deal about the band from that original review. Here on Rock-Paper-Scissors from the bands latest long-player, A Kiss Before You Go (May 2012), Katzenjammer shows how much they have matured and grown as a band while retaining their fun-loving spirit. You can find more information on Katzenjammer by visiting their web site. Consider…

Mop Mop – Run Around

Combining elements of jazz, funk, hip-hop, afrobeat and everything in between  Mop Mop is the brainchild of Italian born musician/composer/producer Andrea Benini, currently living and producing his latest works in Berlin. Run Around from the groups forthcoming long-player (due March 2013-or now with forward posting), Isle of Magic, is hypnotic and wonderful! The radio edited version of the song is painfully short as I wanted more of Fred Wesley’s trombone fills, but that is a small complaint and given the “radio edit" moniker, alludes…
