Jack Cheshire – Paperhouse

Paper House is one of ten dreamy folk-pop gems on the 2011 long-player, Copenhagen, from British singer-songwriter Jack Cheshire. It is beautiful, a bit psychedelic and totally worthy. Cheshire’s voice, is effective and somewhat breathy. The song arrangement is not over-blown, with just the right touches of background vocals and spare instrumentation. If you close your eyes, you won’t need a video with this music, you can simply imagine your own.  That said, the video here fits perfectly with the song. You can find more…

Stephanie Mabey – The Zombie Song

So if you’ve been following along on this blog for awhile, you know that this is the third video related to death or zombies. I assure you, it is totally accidental!  While perusing bandcamp.com, I came across the inventive pop music of Sephanie Mabey, which led me to search out a video for her music, which in turn led me to The Zombie Song. Chasing Jonah – Run

Floridian four-piece indie-folk troupe Chasing Jonah is fronted by the beautiful voice of Ashley Dudukovich and explores life and living in this troubled age. Here on Run, from the 2012 4-song EP And The Clocks Moved, Ashley’s expressive voice slips neatly in front of the story but never over shadows it.  This is indie-folk music in its finest form. You can pick up the entire EP or the single from i-tunes by visiting the band on their web site. Here you will also find…

Dirtfoot – Cast My Plans

Delightfully raw and raucous, Dirtfoot is described on their web site as “gypsy, punk, country, grumble boogie,” but really this is what Americana music is all about-the blending and melding of styles. There is no doubt at all about the energy that is generated by Dirtfoot’s music.  Here on Cast My Plans from the bands 2011 long-player, Live and In Prison, that is certainly evident. One part movie short and two parts music video, Cast My Plans was recorded live at the Wade…

Agent Ribbons – Oh, la la

Step back in time with the sound of Agent Ribbons. This female pop duo, captures the sounds of the 60’s (and before) in their simple, playful melodies, while retaining an element of current alt-pop fluffiness.  It’s fun, and none too serious which is just fine. All of that is more than a little evident here on Oh La La, from 2010’s long-player, Chateau Crone. You can find out more information on Agent Ribbons by visiting their web site, which includes past and…
