Carsie Blanton – Laziest Gal in Town

A few months back, Carsie Blanton had a successful Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to create a record of smokey jazz standards from the first half of the 20th century. Not Old, Not New (June 2014), is the result of that successful campaign, and Cole Porter’s Laziest Gal In Town is from that amazing set.

Carsie’s voice is well suited to these jazz gems, easily sliding where it needs to be, throaty and sultry. You can picture Carsie in a smoke filled piano bar in some past history, leaning on the piano, perhaps with a martini in the other hand. It’s a scene straight out of a movie somewhere, but it is actually all in your head. Just close your eyes and listen to these eleven tracks and let yourself be taken back in time.

Carsie Blanton has the kind of musical tastes that Vodka has: diverse! If smokey jazz standards aren’t your thing, well then there is plenty more to Carsie’s catalog built to please. Her music dates back to 2005, with four long-players and an EP in there and a plethora of styles.

Take a listen to Not Old, Not New now, and consider a purchase (name your price) of Carsie’s music on her site. You can find a ton of information on Carsie Blanton by visiting her nicely formatted web site.
