Vodka Austin Favorite –  Chelsea Williams’ countrified pop was one of the artists that weren’t at the SXSW this year, due to the cancellation of the event because of the virus outbreak. You can still enjoy her music, though, by getting out there and purchasing some of her tunes!  Perhaps a little more Americana than Vodka usually likes, there’s just something about Williams that has me shelving my personal preferences for now. Could be it’s the attitude that she portrays, but more than likely it is that the music itself does not contain the qualities that usually send me running from country music-whiny vocals combined with twangy music. That isn’t to say that Chelsea Williams writes deep music, but it is fun and light, and how can you argue with that? Even more on the positive side, Williams has a beautiful clear voice that lends itself well to her songs, particularly in the higher registers where it rings true. Her new single, Red Flag (March 2020) highlights all of these great qualities.

When this review was originally written, the website was incomplete, missing a bunch of what Vodka believes are necessary items for an artist’s website to include. While Americana may never feature prominently on A Little More Vodka, A Little Less Milk, there is always room for exceptions, and Chelsea Williams is one of those exceptions. Get out there and support this artist now!
