Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats – S.O.B.

If you can’t rock out to Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, then there is something absolutely wrong with you. S.O.B. is delightfully irreverent, raucous, energetic and fun, and it is from the band’s self-titled debut long-player (August, 2015).  This song reaches into your soul and exposes the real you. The remainder of the long-player is a study in the rich, soulful, bluesy and raw, each song rife with emotion.

Truth be told, lead man in this troop Nathaniel Rateliff, started out as a singer-songwriter in a more folkish vein, and transformed into what has to be one of the best white soul singer fronts since Paul Janeway, lead singer of St. Paul and The Broken Bones. Nathaniel’s powerful vocals are a force to be reckoned with, whether on the up-beat, such as S.O.B., or the slower tempo numbers.

Catching the band live requires a quick clicking finger on ticket purchases, as many show venues list the sold-out prominently on upcoming concert appearances.
