Sandtimer – You Never Had Control

Whether quality releases are slow because it is the first part of the year or whether they have been depressed by the pandemic (probably a little of both), it’s been a bleak search for new music this month. Rather than post something that is less than the quality that I look for here, It seemed more appropriate to take a look back and revisit a review from a few months ago. Enter Sandtimer and You Never Had Control from their wonderful digital-only release at the end of 2020, Running In Sunlight. If you need a refresher, take a look back at that review here

You Never Had Control (heard here) is the second track on that wonderful collection and a great reminder to you that all the bad news and grim times out there are probably not on you. Your best intentions aren’t necessarily going to bring about good outcomes either, but we all just get up and do our best and keep doing our best. That’s all we can do:

“When you wake up to the sound of heavy rain
and the bad news runs into you like a train
and you look back with regret as it continues to roll
but just remember that you never had control

When you pin all of your hopes onto a kite
watch it sail beyond the heights that you could climb
then thunder claps and lightning rips it apart
but you had no way to know this from the start”

There’s so much great music and equally wonderful lyric lines on Running In Sunlight, so if you have not as yet picked up your copy, you need to do so. It’s digital-only, and not my favorite format, but musically it is spot-on in every aspect.

You can find more information on Sandtimer by heading up to their website. Pick up the band’s music on their bandcamp.com site including Running In Sunlight. Everyone needs a beacon of hope right now and Sandtimer is there to offer it up!

Note: With Covid-19 still around, probably to be with us for some time, artists like Sandtimer and many others need your purchases to keep their heads above water. If your situation allows it, consider purchasing more in these tough times. –Vodka
