I keep coming back to the fabulous rocking duo, Little Hurricane. These two are bottled, energized, grunge story tellers. Each song is thick with emotional instrumentation but you can always hear and understand the lyric. There’s not much else to be said that hasn’t already been said about Little Hurricane in the reviews for Give Em Hell or Haunted Heart (all three of these tracks are from the great 2012 full-length, Homewrecker), but the music bears repeating. Here is the lead off-track to…

It was just a month ago or so that I posted Give Em’ Hell from the absolutely amazing pop-rock duo, Little Hurricane, but I can’t help myself! I must post from them again. Here on Haunted Heart, from the 2012 long-player Homewrecker, they prove that they are the real deal, a force in consistently interesting song-craft.  I can’t emphasize this enough: If you love good pop-rock, then you should purchase the reasonably priced Homewrecker now! As always, you can find more information about Little…

It has to be a pretty exceptionally awesome live performance that makes it to the video blog. Generally, I’m looking for a high-quality studio video, or at minimum, a well recorded personal effort. This video (recorded live in 2010) for Give Em Hell from Little Hurricane’s 2012 debut long-player, Homewrecker, is a live performance, but it is recorded very well, with the intent to highlight the duo’s performance, not the crowd noise.  Give Em Hell is a bluesy, at times sweet…

Jade Jackson’s debut long-player, Gilded (May 2017), hosts this somewhat autobiographical track, Finish Line, about running past the finish line in life and reaching for your goals hard. As a lyricist, Ms. Jackson writes from the heart, opening it gently so that you can feel her feelings. As a singer-songwriter, she can pen a voice for those lyrics and weave a tune that will expand your imagination along with her own. Mildly country, these tracks hint more at folk storytelling than they do of anything else. Ms. Jackson is…

It was a great year in music and Vodka takes pride in knowing that at least one of our long followed artists, Courtney Barnett, was nominated in the Best New Artist category for a Grammy. She deserves it! We have followed her since the wonderful History Eraser posted over 3 years ago-from her singles, to her EPs and even her duet work. Her humor and edgy guitar work make her unique in the indie-rock field and who better to win a Grammy for Best New Artist?  We will see how the voting ends up in 2016, but let’s hope she…
