I’ve only one complaint about Rebecca Shearing’s new EP, Paper Lung (October 2012), and that is the mix. Rebecca’s voice is obviously powerful and full, but as demonstrated by the title track here, it is beneath the instruments in the mix. Rebecca Shearing has first-rate pop vocal chops, and though Paper Lung (the song) breaks not so much as a thimble of new ground musically, it does show the talent and ability of this young singer and highlights the promise of things to come.
