Quidam Pilgrim – Aquelarre

What happens when you combine, Enya, Pink Floyd, Queensrÿche, add some jazz, Celtic and Cuban flavoring, blend neatly and dispense?  You end up with the Cuban band Quidam Pilgrim, that’s what!  This 2012 video of Aquelarre, from the 2007 released long-player, The Pilgrim Progress, highlights how absolutely perfect all of those influences are together. When you watch this video and listen, it’s hard to imagine that Quidam Pilgrim is a duo, but it most certainly is. The band is co-composer, lyricist and singer, Adela Rivas…

Meg Myers – Monster

Meg Myers dark and somehow compelling, Monster is indeed a story of the monster within. This is an intense song with in-your-face lyrics and a riveting delivery. It speaks volumes of the tortures of love’s inequalities, “My love too much, your love not enough” sings Meg in the shadowy refrain.  The cello adds so much to this song, but it is Meg’s voice that commands a listener.   In true Creative-Commons fashion, you can download Meg Myers entire 7-song EP, Daughter in the Choir, from…

Chordslinger n Lola – Your Destiny

Back in April, I posted another track from Chordslinger n’ Lola, the internet collaborating team of singer (Lola de Hanna) and instrumentalist, song-writer, Chordslinger.  I can’t help but be impressed by the music these two have created together. Taking on the issue of Greece’s dilemma is a hot-button issue, I’m sure, for some; But…

Evergreen – Vintage Car

Thanks to fellow blogger Fabric Sound, for getting me started on the French alterna-folk-pop trio We Were Evergreen. This band is quirky, yet accessible and a bit prolific! There are a lot of videos to choose from out there. The band has a web site, where you can get a free download of this track, Vintage Car, but otherwise the site is a bit sketchy on details. You can pick up the two-song EP Baby Blue on Amazon or you can find We Were…

Admiral Twin – Dreamer

Dreamer is not a new track from a band that hasn’t released much new in a while, Admiral Twin. Admiral Twin spins its brand of pop in a style that is delightfully singable. The melody is king for this band, and they have a way of making sure that they leave a mark on you once you’ve heard their music. Dreamer is from the band’s 2003 long-player, Creatures of Bread & Wine. You can discover or re-discover Admiral Twin by visiting their website….
