Mikael Jaeger Jensen – The Problem With Saints

This fan video of 8in8’s funny retro-pop tune, The Problem With Saints, is just plain fun. For those not in the know, 8in8 is a collaborative effort between Ben Folds, Amanda Palmer, Neil Gaiman and Damian Kulash-all musicians in their own right. Nighty Night, the six-song 2011 EP from the group is available from bandcamp.com for a lousy buck.  This is music for the fun of it, literally. Check out of 8in8 by visiting their web site and pick up the…

Stephanie Mabey – The Zombie Song

So if you’ve been following along on this blog for awhile, you know that this is the third video related to death or zombies. I assure you, it is totally accidental!  While perusing bandcamp.com, I came across the inventive pop music of Sephanie Mabey, which led me to search out a video for her music, which in turn led me to The Zombie Song. This fun song is knee deep in puntentiousness and is available both as a part of Stephanie’s larger…

The Aquaducks – Fuel The Funk

Note: Video no longer available. Jazz-infused R&B Funk can’t be all bad, and The Aquaducks prove that it ain’t bad at all!  Check out Fuel the Funk, and start jamming! The killer sax leads in as if you are in for a mellow jazz number, and then everything just kicks. Great fun and great music! You can obtain Fuel the Funk from any one of four sites for free (try bandcamp for starters), hopefully, the band will work up some more tunes in this vein and release a full length in the near future. Want more information? The band has no cohesive…

Princess Chelsea – The Cigarette Duet

Pop music with a striking anti-smoking message. I’m not an anti-smoking evangelist, but this song probably does more to discourage smoking than all of the anti-smoking messages combined. I came across this video totally by accident so this was my first introduction to New Zealand popper Princess Chelsea’s simple pop formula. It’s bubbly, quirky and completely singable.  Here, guest vocalist Johnathan Bree helps out on The Cigarette Duet from the full length Lil Golden Book.  I can’t find an actual release date,…

The Lumineers – Flowers In Your Hair

Thanks to fellow blogger baaconnn for this great short folk romp from The Lumineers called Flowers in Your Hair from 2011.  Baaconn also say’s this “everything this band touches is gold. i’ve got to see them live,” and I can certainly understand those sentiments! The Lumineers stomp around Denver, CO and play concerts and events around the Midwest.  They’ve just released (April 3, 2012) their first full-length album.  You can find more information on The Lumineers by visiting their web site, where you will…
