Moke – Burning the Ground

I almost passed on this track from Amsterdam based 5-piece, Moke, simply based on the intro, but it didn’t take long to flesh itself out and become interesting.  Here on Burning The Ground from the band’s September 2012 long-player, Collider, Moke uses bits of electronic noodling along with full force guitars and pristine vocals to craft a first-rate rock offering. You can find more information on Moke, by visiting their web site, (in German, I think) which includes store and social links.  Check out…

Bat For Lashes – All Your Gold

Thanks to fellow blogger and music enthusiast fabricsound for posting this very interesting and totally innovative piece of music. Combining elements of pop, rock, r&b and electronic music, Bat For Lashes unleashes All Your Gold from the just released long-player, The Haunted Man,  and the results are incredible.  Think “a female led Gotye” and you would be close but not quite there. You can find more information on Bat For Lashes by visiting their web site (social and store links included). Check…

Band of Frequencies – All I’ve Found

There’s nothing terribly new and different about Band of Frequencies, but it’s the sum of the parts that make everything work. Here on All I’ve Found from the band’s October 2012 long-player, Rise Like The Sun, the band combines a funky intro with classic-rock and blues which sounds vocally (vaguely) like Pink Floyd guitarist/vocalist David Gilmour. This is polished rock music with some wonderful melodic hooks.  Check out Band of Frequencies by visiting their MySpace or Facebook pages. You can purchase…

Museum – For The Very First Time

Remember glam rock?  Berlin band mates from Museum seem determined to bring it back and add a bit of a harder edge to it.  Combining touches of electronic noodling, full-throttle guitars and fine vocal chops, For The Very First Time has a great feel to it.  I particularly like the piston-pumping guitar that comes in at intervals to add a dramatic effect and then is silenced.  Whatever you call this, it sounds just enough new to feel fresh. You can find…
