Andrew Taylor – Just Let It Happen

Regular Vodka readers will know that we have covered Dropkick many times in the past. They’ve got a fun, bouncy sound, that will keep your feet moving most of the time, anyway. Andrew Taylor of Dropkick has just released a set of music recorded between October 9th and 15th during the pandemic lockdown. Just Let It Happen (seen/heard here) came out of those recording sessions, and the subsequent long-player, Lockdown Session: October 2020 (October 2020).

Just Let It Happen (the video) showcases the multiple talents of Taylor, who plays all of the instruments and sings all of the vocals, including harmonies, here. The production quality on all of the tracks is excellent. To be sure, many of the tracks on Lockdown are more introspective than a Dropkick collection, but every track is exquisitely listenable, often singable, sometimes perfect for a slow dance with your personal lockdown partner.

This has to be one of my favorite tracks on this collection, but there are others: Lucky, has a beautiful refrain, The Blue recaptures the mid-tempo that I favor of Just Let It Happen and the collection closer Let Me Know is a solid toe-tapping march. Honestly, there are no stinkers here, this is a solid collection of music well worth a purchase.
