O Emperor – Holy Fool

Update: Most information for this band is no longer available. The original video is gone. Vodka did find this audio-only version.

Irish alterna-odd-rockers O Emperor, pull out all the psychedelic stops on their video for Holy Fool from their soon-to-be-released (June 2013) long-player, Vitreous. There’s a certain retro feel here that doesn’t feel dated but rather reinvented. The breathy vocals blend and float with the lead vocal presenting itself in front of the mix at times but drifting harmoniously into the chorus with no obvious stop or start point. The overall effect is a fine piece of pop music song-craft with interesting layers and edges. This will be the second long-player from O Emperor following the excellent Hither Thither from April 2012.

While O Emperor has a website, it essentially is a billboard for tour dates with a promo video of Holy Fool and social and purchase links. Information on the band is pretty sketchy but you can at least get a listing of the bandmates from the Facebook page. Keep an eye out for the release of Vitreous in June and while you’re waiting, consider a purchase of Hither Thither from the band’s bandcamp.com site.
