Shook Twins – Awhile

We have a problem from time to time at Vodka using our normally reliable sources for good new music, coming up with, well, good new music.  So we took a side road recently and ended up at the front door of the Shook Twins and boy do we wish we had discovered them earlier!  Awhile (video) is from their Jr. effort, What We Do (2014). Their two other long-players, You Can Have The Rest (2008) and Window (2011) all feature Katelyn and Laurie Shook’s dueling vocals and a broad variety…

Mipso hails from North Carolina where the three-piece met while attending UNC. As well as this single, the group has a  full-length available, Long, Long Gone (April 2012) which is full of great tracks for a lousy $8 US.  You can…

Run Boy Run – Railroad Boy

I’ve been keeping an eye open for a decent video from Tuscon, AZ based Run Boy Run to try and promote their debut long-player, So Sang The Whippoorwill (March 2013). Finally got lucky with this homemade video of Railroad Boy, which does NOT show up on the long-player but is a great  bluegrass number and certainly good enough to point you to the long-player for more. Run Boy Run is made up of Matt (guitar/fiddle) and Grace Rolland (cello/vocals), sisters Bekah (guitar/fiddle/vocals) and…
