Aibai is a producer, based in Minneapolis, that stitches together music from her experience with electronica, and blends these influences with modern alternative, ambient, and rhythm and blues, or what Aibai refers to as, “indietronica.” Here on Glow, one of several singles from a new self-titled EP (March 2021), Aibai fronts this easy on the ears music with vocals from Des, better known as Swims. This is a beautiful track on many levels. Aibai certainly shows that her producer chops are well-honed.

Also on the EP, More Than Friends, with Colby Hansen on vocals, Feel Again with Mønty C, and rounds out with Swims again on Open Up. All of these tracks have their own pluses, but I find the overall appeal of Glow to be preferable in my case. 

All of the tracks suffer some from a problem a great deal of modern music is prone to-a heavy push on the level meter on all mixed sounds. That said, the vocals are clear and the music is quite nice. The dynamics overall could be better, but if everything were perfect, what would be the point of doing it all over again?

Finding information on Aibai is not an easy task. If not for her production company, Vodka would be left wondering if I had enough to create a post. There is no social media profile for Aibai (none that I could find) on any of the usual suspects. There’s also no web page. You can find her music on Apple Music, Spotify, and Sound Cloud. To support her, I’d suggest Spotify, but I really do miss the other links, and others might as well.

Note: In many areas, things are opening up again, with Covid-19 vaccinations helping to ebb the flow of the virus, But artists like Abai and many others are still struggling to keep their heads above water. If your situation allows it, consider purchasing more in these tough times. –Vodka
