Alexa Dirks (a.k.a. Begonia) makes pop music that seamlessly blends with electronica and old soul for a sound that is full, rich, and totally balanced. It is music meant for the dance floor but can be the stuff that helps you clean your house if you like. Hanging On A Line (seen/heard here) is from her debut fourth-coming (September 2019) long-player, Fear. Fear is preceded only by a double handful of singles and her first EP, 2017′s Lady In Mind, that has been met with great critical acclaim and has allowed her to hone her sound and style into what promises to be an absolutely knock-out long-player. (At the time of this writing, only three tracks were available to preview, plus Hanging On A Line.)

Production quality should be noted here: Unlike many releases of late, vocals are properly in the forefront of the mix and yet the instrumentation is there for energy, added emotion, and texture.  Begonia’s rich soulful voice is powerful and yet tender and beautiful at the same time. That voice echos 1970′s era soul, but with a 2019 edge.
