Evergreen – Vintage Car

Thanks to fellow blogger Fabric Sound, for getting me started on the French alterna-folk-pop trio We Were Evergreen. This band is quirky, yet accessible and a bit prolific! There are a lot of videos to choose from out there. The band has a web site, where you can get a free download of this track, Vintage Car, but otherwise the site is a bit sketchy on details. You can pick up the two-song EP Baby Blue on Amazon or you can find We Were Evergreen…

Clara C – The Camel Song

I ran across Clara C while trying to fill a spot for folk or Americana on the blog. Black Prairie – Red Rocking Chair

There’s no other way to describe 2010’s Red Rocking Chair by Portland, Oregon’s Black Prairie other than extremely sad.  There is loss here-deep heart-breaking loss.  The kind of loss that there is seemingly no way out from or to. Vocal duties on the rare vocal cuts are handled by Annalisa Tornfelt, who’s breathy vocal adds to the…

The Morning After – Rest Tonight

Folk, bluegrass aficionados The Morning After can keep your body moving to some of their more raucous instrumentals (see Reverbnation video links). Here with Rest Tonight, they prove that their folk styling is equally at home with a good vocal added in. The Morning After hails from Raleigh, North Carolina and although their stock in trade might mostly be folk and bluegrass, they flavor their songs with an eclectic blend of rock, salsa, jazz, funk and everything in between. In reviewing their…
