Tim Hassall – Bribing The Reaper

I should preface this post in that the song, Bribing The Reaper is from Tim Hassall’s 2010 long-player, Oh Restless Heart. The video is brand new (May 2013). Tim Hassall is a singer, songwriter and an alternative artist in the strictest sense of the word, borrowing from the world-wide influences that were his childhood and early adult years. Meg Myers – Cold

Music Musings – July 2013 Focus on Meg Myers There’s no denying the influence that Meg Myers has had over me during the last year. I keep returning to her performances time and again. The Great Collision – Never Gonna Be Alone

Tuscon, Arizona band The Great Collision was reviewed here about a month ago for I Fell from the band’s April 2013 long-player, Running In Circles.  I Am Ampersand, otherwise known as singer-songwriter Matt Hainsby, delivers a folk-blues gem with 20 Seas 4 Oceans from his November 2012 long-player Grave Goods. Just a little acoustic playful guitar, a bit of electronic noodling-but only for texture, a nice tenor voice and great spare backing vocals. This could have dropped straight out of the late 60’s playbook onto your doorstep.  Matt Hainsby’s solo work here is in stark contrast to the nearly progressive folk-rock of his regular band, Fujiya…

Middle Class Fashion – Sugar Hrt Candy

Singer and pianist Jenn Malzone is a busy girl, fronting Middle Class Fashion while maintaining playtime with Paper Dolls and Tight Pants Syndrome-all hailing from St. Louis, MO. All I can say is, “St. Louis, you are lucky folks indeed!” Jenn Malzone plays the middle ground in a shifting minor key to major key musical landscape, making her brand of pop sound more interesting than a normal pop songstress. Here on Middle Class Fashion’s Sugar Hrt Candy, from the January…
