Shook Twins – Awhile

We have a problem from time to time at Vodka using our normally reliable sources for good new music, coming up with, well, good new music.  So we took a side road recently and ended up at the front door of the Shook Twins and boy do we wish we had discovered them earlier!  Awhile (video) is from their Jr. effort, What We Do (2014). Their two other long-players, You Can Have The Rest (2008) and Window (2011) all feature Katelyn and Laurie Shook’s dueling vocals and a broad variety…

Eliza Rickman – Lark Of My Heart

Eliza Rickman appeared here not all that long ago with her new video for her 2012 track, Start With Goodbye, Stop With Hello, from her long-player of that same year, O You Sinners. Footnotes For Spring (October 2015), picks up where O You Sinners left off-with both the good and the bad. There’s no denying Eliza Rickman’s beautiful bell-like soprano voice. Folly & The Hunter – Awake

NOTE: The original video stopped working. It appears to have been pulled by the band.  No explanation that I know of. The closest thing…

George Ezra – Listen to the Man

I’m late to the George Ezra party, but thanks to my daughter’s recommendation, I’m in now! George recently released his debut long-player, Wanted On Voyage (January 2015), in both original and deluxe formats. The deluxe version gives you three bonus tracks. George does a good job of releasing videos for his songs, making it easy to pick a favorite, and for this go around I just had to pick Listen To The Man, because of the humor included with video…

Paper Cranes – Little Darling

Auckland, NZ indie-folk band Paper Cranes has a magnificent sound; warm, inviting, and full. Formed in 2011, the group released their first 7-song EP in September 2012 (Oh Love!) following that up with the single, Little Darling (see video) in September 2013. Little Darling is the precursor to the long-player, Be My Home, due out this Summer.  Filled with diverse instrumentation, provided for the most part by the five permanent members, and vocals that are polished with wonderful harmonies, Paper Cranes stands out in…
